Inamed Corp: SEC Opens Formal Investigation Of Co >IMDC
WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Inamed Corp. (IMDC) said Wednesday that the Securities and Exchange Commission notified the company Feb. 24 that it has initiated a formal private investigation to determine whether the company violated federal securities laws.
According to Inamed's annual report filed with the SEC, the commission asked the company to produce documents in connection with the investigation.
The Santa Barbara, Calif.-based surgical and medical device company said that based on subsequent communications with the SEC, it believes the investigation relates to assessing the adequacy of its disclosures regarding one style of its silicone gel-filled breast implant products known as Style 153.
According to the filing, Style 153 accounted for about $3.4 million, or less than 1%, of its total revenues in 2004.
Inamed intends to fully cooperate in the investigation, the filing said.
