Calif implant makers want FDA to put silicone-gel back on market

Janna-

It is so good to hear from you, it's been quite some time.

I have the same concerns you do about the longevity of these "newer and improved" model silicone implants the manufacturers are currently pushing. None will last the lifetime, they once promoted, and will require repeat surgery. And once they do rupture, we will have free flowing silicone in our bodies, that equals what the silicone injection women endured decades ago.

For certain three year studies aren't long enough to study women with them. In my own instance, I was just over 3 years when I began to have symptoms. I would think a minimum of 10 years in a study would be more realistic.

I'm glad the FDA panel ruled against Inamed's bid to have them returned to the market place today.

I'm hoping tomorrow the panel will see it the same way with Mentor. My understanding is that Mentor's studies are only for two years!
