A message and a question from Marge

Please see the following message from Marge. She has a question in her message. Feedback is welcome. . .Myrl

Myrl,

I have been gone for three weeks to visit my son and be checked out at Duke Clinic. The only thing the doctor's said there is, "We listen about the silicone."

I first saw a liver surgern as I have multiple liver cysts. Then the catscan I had done here in Knoxville had shown two lumps in my right breast. The catsca with an IV there showed both my breasts were full of cysts. They had three doctors to look at the ultrasunds and Mamograms. All they said was we want to hear your story--and I know they meant about silicone. Well I shared my history and because I am now a 35 year survivor, they did show interest. I have to go back in 6 months for more testing. The breast surgeon asked me if I thought I was born with the multiple liver cysts or if I thought it was due to silicone. I just said that I did not believe I was born with them.

I knew that I had silicone in my breast tissue and chest after being explanted by Feng. However, we discussed removing this and she said that she could not say if I would get any better and much of the silicone was too deep to remove. I chose to do nothing, Now that I am full of cysts, is that not what happens to the silicone--that it makes cysts????? They are really concered about one that is deep in my right breast but if they thought it was cancer, surely they would not have sent me home without aspirating or something. They just insisted I see the breast surgeorn as I might be needing her when I go back. Do you know of others who have had any luck going to Duke?

I also have an app with a Rheumotologist when I go back. The one here that I see just told me to get up and go back home if I was there about silicone. I have had just about the limit of problems including a pos MGUS and Kappa chains at one time. No further testing for that. The doctors just tell me that if I had Myeloma I would be dead. They know nothing about smorldering myeloma or whatever. All I know is I am told my bones are in bad shape and I
live with horrible bone pain plus the burning mucous membranes that I have had non stop for over 15 years.

It is all I can do to care for myself with the fatigue---

Thanks.
Marge
