I correspond with a sister who has been going to Duke for several years; she's had several backsurgeries there -- and is constant pain. They want to domore surgery, but since she is in no better condition than she was when she started, she is refusing to have any more.

I am away from home right now, so cannot write and ask her to write to Marge. The best Rheumatologist that I have heard of is Dr. Vasey, in Tampa. He is the most experienced in silicone related problems -- has probably seen more of us than any other...

Susan is in Gatlinburg now -- but I don't have her email addy either..

Dear Marge:

It is unfortunate but many of us found due to the publicity in the media most doctors do not believe us or our symptoms.

Along with the Lupus that i got from silicone breast implants, I suffer from pain in my chest and what i thought were my kidneys. The doctor i went to see kept checking my heart, even though i told him it wasn't my heart. He finally after my insisting found that i had a cyst in my chest but refused to check for the pain in my kidney. After 2 more doctor and an MRI i finally was diagnosed with a tumor in my spine.

It is unfortunate that not only have we been abused by Dow but it's continuing through the doctors. Try to hang in there and insist on getting things diagnosed since you are the only one who knows your body and what is going on.

Sorry i don't have better advice.

Myrl Have you found anyone who has anything wrong w/ their lungs? There's something in my L lower lobe of mine and am a wreck...they ordered and was delivered already, a nebulizer to use 4 times/day, and he said, he's a lung specialist, if it doesn't clear it up, they're going to have to go in there to see what it is...Can it be silicone or what?

Hi Marge and Myrl,

I'm so sorry to hear of your medical condition. I've never been to Duke Clinic, but I will tell you, I've not found one Physician in the State of Missouri that will recognize my health problems being the cause from Migrating Silicone Gel. So all they're doing is treating the symptoms and putting names on what they think is wrong with me.

I feel defeated, fatigued and have lost my fight! One Doctor did take two samples of my phlegm in two sterile separate cups and all she said is, "They can't determine the Silicone from the Silica!" That's it! Nothing more!

But don't you give up! Keep seeing Doctor's and keep asking questions. Perhaps you will one day get the appropriate help you so richly deserve!
