Here you’ll find the tools and information you need to win social, racial, and economic justice for all by taking our democracy back from the corporate elite and the well-heeled special interests that dominate the political process today.
Action Items:
Tell Your Senators to Oppose John Roberts
At a time when the Supreme Court is as divided as this country, we cannot afford a chief justice who will lead us backwards in time. We need Supreme Court justices who are committed to protecting the fundamental rights and freedoms guaranteed to all under our Constitution. Sadly, Judge Roberts' record and testimony have demonstrated that he does not see that as his role. Please urge the Senate to vote NO on his confirmation.
Preserve the Estate Tax!
The Senate may vote soon on proposals to repeal the estate tax or cut it by as much as 93 percent. Call on your Senators to protect our future and stop any effort to repeal or drastically reduce the estate tax.
Put Asbestos Victims' Rights Before Big Business
The Asbestos Trust Fund Legislation would take billions of dollars in compensation away from innocent asbestos victims and give it back to the companies and their insurers who knowingly poisoned them on the job. While asbestos companies and their insurers fight to keep their profits, senators should be more concerned about the victims of asbestos poisoning. Tell your senators to vote against any Asbestos Trust Fund Bill and any motion to bring it up for a vote. Victims of asbestos poisoning, and their families, deserve a fair deal!
Create a Budget that Reflects the Right Priorities
America needs a budget that puts the needs of the most vulnerable first-not more tax breaks for the wealthiest. Call on Congress to draft a budget that reflects American values and American needs!
Protect Victims of Medical Malpractice
Tell your Senators to protect -- not to punish -- families who through no fault of their own were victims of medical malpractice. Urge them to address the real crisis by ensuring quality staffing at hospitals and nursing homes, improving care to reduce errors, making a greater effort to discipline incompetent doctors, and making insurance companies open their books to justify their need for rate increases.
Protect Medicaid: Oppose Caps and Cuts
The President has said he will cut the deficit in half by the end of his second term. He also wants to make the tax cuts permanent, at the cost of over $2 trillion over the next decade. Medicaid, a program that insures 51 million Americans, is being put in grave danger to make way for the President's priorities. Passing a budget will be a battle of priorities and a question of values. Urge your senators to pass a budget that puts the health care needs of our most vulnerable Americans-children, especially-first.
Tell Congress: Keep the Promise of Social Security!
President Bush has made privatizing Social Security one of his major domestic priorities for this year. Social Security is the nation's best family insurance program, providing guaranteed benefits for the majority of Americans. The president's privatization plan takes away the guarantee by cutting benefits and gambling what's left in the stock market. The plan's real winners? Bush's friends on Wall Street.

Sign this petition that asks the US Senate to protect asbestos workers, not the corporations who poisoned them!

Volunteer with USAction
Together we can win social, racial and economic justice for all. USAction affiliates need volunteers to help educate the public, elected officials and the media about the issues we care about, such as health care and fair taxes for all. And this year we need you to help Get Out the Vote! All we need to know from you is when you are available to volunteer. Then we'll do our best to find the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! Please vist the USAction's affiliate page to see if we have an affiliate in your state. If there is no USAction affiliate in your state or region we will do our best to find a volunteer opportunity with an organization that works on the issues you care about.
