Breast Implant Expert Advisory Panel Report / Rapport du Groupe consultatif d'experts sur les implants mammaires 

Thank you for your participation in the Public Forum on Breast Implants held on September 29th, 2005. Your input is greatly appreciated. It was taken into consideration by the Expert Advisory Panel during its deliberations and in the development of its report to Health Canada.

It is my pleasure to inform you that the Expert Advisory Panel’s report to Health Canada has been received and is posted on the Web site at the following URL:

Health Canada will carefully consider the report, along with other information, as it continues its review of these licence applications. Once the review is complete, Health Canada will make its decision and inform the public of that decision.

The Public Forum on Breast Implants was the second time that the Canadian public had been invited to provide input to a Health Canada expert advisory panel on the issues of safety and efficacy of therapuetic products and the first time for a product undergoing pre-market review. As such, it was a learning experience for all involved. The feedback that we hope to receive, both informally and formally through our evaluation process, will help us to improve future activities of this nature.

Santé Canada étudiera attentivement ce rapport ainsi que d’autres renseignements, car nous poursuivons notre examen des demandes d’homologation. Lorsque cet examen sera terminé, Santé Canada prendra sa dé cision et en informera le public.

C’était la deuxième fois que le Forum public sur les implants mammaires invitait le public canadien à formuler des commentaires à un groupe consultatif d’experts de Santé Canada sur les questions de sécurité et d’efficacité des produits thérapeutiques et la premiPre fois qu’un produit était l’objet d’une évaluation de précommercialisation. A ce titre, cette é valuation a été une expérience d’apprentissage pour tous les participants. Les rétroactions que nous espérons recevoir, de maniPre informelle et formelle par l’intermédiaire de notre processus d’évaluation, nous aideront à améliorer les activités futures de cette nature.
