Urgent: Senate to Vote on Asbestos Bill that Fails to Protect Victims

Through your hard work, the FAIR Act was recently amended to include the National Mesothelioma Research and Treatment Program. But unfortunately, this bill falls far short of what is needed to truly help those affected by asbestos-related diseases.

Urge your senators to stand up for victims of asbestos poisoning, by opposing the FAIR Act.

Since 1979, over 43,000 Americans have died of mesothelioma and asbestosis, diseases directly caused by exposure to asbestos. These deaths were 100% preventable, if only asbestos manufactures had informed the public of the danger posed by their product. A danger they were aware of since 1920.

Thank you for urging the Senate to fund a National Mesothelioma Research and Treatment Program, by taking action on ThePetitionSite.com. You clearly understand the horrible impact this disease has on individuals and families; unfortunately,

Congress does not share your understanding.

As early as next week the Senate may vote on the Fairness in Asbestos Injury Resolution Act (FAIR Act) that would establish a trust fund to compensate victims of asbestos poisoning. However, the FAIR Act is any thing but fair - it is under funded, unworkable and unconstitutional. It would make asbestos victims overcome huge new hurdles to prove that they are eligible and even deny over 33,000 victims any compensation at all. Act now!

Through your hard work, the FAIR Act was recently amended to include the National Mesothelioma Research and Treatment Program. But unfortunately, this bill falls far short of what is needed to truly help those affected by asbestos-related diseases like mesothelioma. The FAIR Act will exempt the corporations responsible for the tragedy of mesothelioma from all further liability, adding billions to their bottom lines.

If this bill becomes law, victims will have to wait years to be compensated for their injuries. They should not have to wait for trust fund administrators to decide IF and WHEN they will receive the money they need to fight the progression of their illness. Many will die waiting.

Urge your senators to stand up for victims of asbestos poisoning,http://go.care2.com/e/g1O/Be/GAmF

not companies who put their bank books and balance sheets before workers' and consumers' lives.

Sign this petition today! Dow, is liable for poisoning human's with asbestos.
