Ms. Magazine Sham Campaign Unfair to Women Who Have Had Abortions

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Oct. 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Ms. Magazine’s campaign to get women who supposedly have had abortions to sign a petition saying they have had an abortion is a sham," said Caron Strong, National Director of Operation Outcry. "It's biased and unrepresentative," she said.
Women only have to sign up on a website. Anyone could enter a fictitious name or several fictitious names with no one the wiser.
In contrast, over 2,000 women have provided sworn testimony, admissible in a court of law, for Operation Outcry. This sworn testimony – in the form of signed and notarized affidavits swearing to tell the truth – documents the devastation of their own abortions. This is the largest known body in the world of direct sworn testimony about the harm of abortion to women.
Citing Science magazine, Planned Parenthood’s website reveals that up to 10 percent of women who have abortions experience "depressive symptoms of a lingering nature." Assuming this figure is accurate, there are at least 100,000 women per year who have suffered from this effect alone and as many as three million since abortion was legalized in 1973.
"Ms. is not for informed choice; it is only interested in advocating the right of women to kill their own children," said Rebecca Porter, Florida State Leader for Operation Outcry.
Ms. has refused to allow women who have been hurt by abortion to have a voice in its publication through letters to the editor or by signing a petition saying they regret their abortions.
"If Ms. were really for choice, which it pretends to be, then it would allow both sides of abortion to be heard so that women can make an informed choice," said Strong.
Even if abortion doesn’t injure every woman who has one, it is clear that it injures so many women in such devastating ways that it should be banned just as silicone breast implants and certain cancer treatments were because they were too dangerous. Medical procedures do not have to hurt everyone in order for them to be too dangerous to be allowed. Cancer can cause death, unlike most pregnancies; yet, certain treatments are not permitted because they are too dangerous.
"Enough evidence exists, documenting the detrimental and dangerous effects, to end abortion" said Caron Strong. "Women should be protected from this dangerous procedure."
