It's Your Health - what's new
Athletic Mouthguards
Mouthguards are resilient appliances that fit over your teeth. When worn during sports activities, mouthguards help protect against injuries to the teeth and other areas in and around your mouth. A single blow to the mouth or jaw can cause serious dental damage that is very painful and expensive to treat. You can minimize the risk of this type of injury by using a mouthguard when you take part in sports and other recreational activities.

Risks Associated with Sprouts - Update
Sprouts are the germinating form of seeds and beans. As many as 10% of Canadians eat sprouts on a regular basis. In addition, small amounts of sprouts are now found in some sandwiches, salads and Asian dishes bought at restaurants and delicatessens. This increases the potential exposure of Canadians to sprouts. As the popularity of sprouts increases, so does the potential for sprout-related illnesses. Health Canada is taking action on several fronts to help reduce the risk of illnesses related to sprouts. Mammography - Update
In certain situations, women are advised to have breast X-rays, known as mammograms, to detect breast cancers at their earliest possible stage of development. Mammography is an imaging technique that uses X-rays to provide a picture of the internal structure of the breast. Mammograms can be done for diagnostic or screening purposes. There is plenty of evidence that early detection and treatment of breast cancer saves lives. For more information go to:
