Premarket Movers: Onyx Pharmaceuticals

Shares of Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Bayer AG gained in premarket trading Monday after the companies released data from a clinical trial that shows their experimental drug Nexavar is effective in fighting liver cancer.
The companies said they will seek approval to market Nexavar for liver cancer in the United States and Europe, where it is currently approved to treat kidney cancer.
Banc of America Securities analyst David Witzke said advanced liver cancer "is a significant unmet medical need with no approved therapies in the U.S." The phase III trial showed Nexavar could allow those patients to live longer.
Emeryville, Calif.-based Onyx shares shot up $7.49, or 61.1 percent, to $19.75 in premarket electronic trading. The stock ended Friday at $12.26 on the Nasdaq.
American depositary shares of Bayer (nyse: BAY - news - people ) gained 21 cents to $58.04 in early trading. The stock closed at $57.83 Friday on the New York Stock Exchange.
Hansen Natural Corp.
(nasdaq: HANS - news - people ) shares were up after the Corona, Calif. company struck another distribution deal for its energy drinks.Hansen said it inked a deal with PepsiCo (nyse: PEP - news - people ) Canada to bottle and distribute the drinks, including Monster Energy, Lost Energy and Joker Mad Energy, in Canada. Terms were not disclosed. On Friday, Hansen expanded an agreement with Anheuser-Busch (nyse: BUD - news - people ) Inc. that will allow the brewer to coordinate sales and merchandising of the drinks.
Hansen stock climbed $1.59, or 4 percent, to $41.11 in premarket trading. On Friday, the stock closed at $39.52 on the Nasdaq.
Shares of PepsiCo, the parent company of PepsiCo Canada, was not trading premarket. They closed Friday at $63.91 on the NYSE.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.
(nyse: BMY - news - people ) stock slipped in early trading after a report in The Times of London said a proposed sale to French drug maker Sanofi-Aventis (nyse: SNY - news - people ) is off.New York-based Bristol-Myers stock lost $1.03, or 3.6 percent, to $27.49 in premarket trading. Bristol-Myers stock closed at $28.52 Friday on the Big Board.
American depositary shares of Sanofi-Aventis rose 43 cents to $44.21 in the early session. Shares closed at $43.78 on the NYSE Friday.
