NewsTarget readers having a huge impact on health companies
NewsTarget Insider Alert (www.NewsTarget.com)
Dear NewsTarget readers,
Give yourself a pat on the back today. NewsTarget readers are having a significant, positive impact on food and product companies through grassroots action.
In response to our recent article on Amy's Kitchen foods using yeast extract, for example, the company was deluged with emails from concerned NewsTarget readers requesting they remove yeast extract from their food products. Today, I received a call from Bill Twieg, the Technical Director of Amy's Kitchen, who told me that the NewsTarget reader response was massive and immediate. It was, "The most emails we had ever received in one day," he said.
More importantly, the owner of Amy's Kitchen, Andy Berliner, has said that in response to this concern about yeast extract, they will sit down with their product formulation team and attempt to remove yeast extract from their entire product line (actually, only four of their products currently use yeast extract, and it is clearly spelled out on the label. Most Amy's Kitchen products don't use yeast extract at all, and there are absolutely no "hidden ingredients" in their products, they told me today).
We hope to be able to report, sometime in 2007, that Amy's Kitchen will be entirely free of yeast extract, and that the company will receive our full endorsement for safe, healthful and tasty organic food products. But it's up to them to decide whether they can achieve their product taste goals without using yeast extract.
The fact that this effort is even being attempted is a demonstration of the power of grassroots action to make a positive change. Amy's Kitchen is a good company making outstanding products, and they are responding to the natural health community in a constructive way that seeks solutions. But it is to YOUR credit -- you, the readers -- that Amy's Kitchen has become aware of the importance of this issue.
Your voice is powerful. When you post comments or contact these companies, it really makes a difference. What NewsTarget helps do is bring to light particular issues or organizations that need to be addressed, but it is YOUR action that ultimately gets the attention of these companies and motivates them to make positive changes.
Amy's Kitchen isn't the only company that's responding in a positive way to NewsTarget reader concerns. Following our posting of a critical article about AeroGrow (the makers of the AeroGarden appliance), I was contacted by one of the top people at AeroGrow who is working to resolve the issues covered in my critical review.
You can read my new editor's note that explains the AeroGrow situation at:
http://www.newstarget.com/021632.htmlWhat we're seeing here is that both Amy's Kitchen and AeroGrow are responding to NewsTarget articles and reader actions in a way that is polite, constructive and ultimately seeking to resolve issues and support the natural health community. And that means we're a team -- you and I -- in making things happen for the better.
We're not just engaged in some meaningless intellectual exercise around here. We're all about making real change. We can probably all agree that we want companies to clean up their food labels, to use honest descriptive language on their product boxes, and to ship products that actually do what they promise to do. NewsTarget is here to help make these things happen for the benefit of all consumers, and to accomplish this, we need your continued support through various grassroots actions. (And a special thank you to everyone who has purchased a book from us at
www.TruthPublishing.com, as that provides the operating revenues that keep our doors open and allow us to pursue this important work.)So pat yourself on the back today. Sometimes it's easy to feel powerless in our modern world, but in reality we all have the genuine ability to influence companies in a positive, constructive way, even if it means getting a bit outraged about a topic and aggressively campaigning for needed change.
Stay tuned to NewsTarget.com for more updates and more grassroots action opportunities. I'll soon be posting updates on AeroGrow and Amy's Kitchen, and the entire NewsTarget team is working hard to bring you honest, independent news and reviews on new products and companies that impact your life.
As always, you can trust that we will bring you truly independent, objective information on all these topics. It is an honor to write for you, and I thank you for your willingness to empower yourself with new information and take action on the issues that matter. Together, we're a good team, and we have a powerful voice in the natural health community. Let's continue to use that voice for positive change.
