CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA In health, the search for the perfect pucker. Injections for fuller lips are more popular than ever, but they're painful and temporary.

Medical Reporter Stephanie Stahl has details on a new more permanent treatment.

Luscious, full lips are the hot and sexy look just like Angelina Jolie's.

It's the look 24-year-old Caroline Smarduch is after.

"I think they are too small, I do not like the way it looks," Caroline said.

She's about to get the newest lip plumper hitting the market, it's an implant called "Fulfill."
A tiny silicone tube is threaded through the lip, then filled with saline to inflate it.

The outside casing is made of Gortex to keep it soft and flexible.

Some doctors say that's the advantage over other implants, where scar tissue fibers can make the lip stiff.

"It doesn't get the strong fibrous capsule around it which makes it so rigid and palpable in the persons lips," Dr. David Hanson.

The surgery takes half an hour. There's one tiny incision, and only one stitch.

With local anesthesia, there's minimal discomfort but there is a lot of swelling that can last for a week or longer.

"When the swelling comes down, they're going to be perfect," Dr. Hanson said.

Two weeks later, Carolina loved her new lips.

"They are very soft and I think natural," Carolina said.

While the implant hasn't been specifically cleared for use in the lips, it is considered safe and FDA approved for nose reconstruction.

It costs about $3,000 and is the first of its kind to be inflated after it's placed, which is how saline breast implants work.

Dr. Steven Davis in Cherry Hill, NJ is part of the clinical trial using the new lip implant. For more information call 856-424-1700 .
