Response to the earlier posting requesting information about health insurance.
The following responses are from readers, regarding my earlier posting, "A Question About Health Care" - that I had posted from a reader. I certainly want to thank everyone that responded with such wonderful information, and ideas about this important and critical problem.

Myrl ~
Back in the early 90's i had silicone and then a known rupture in 1994, and no insurance.
Even though I knew I was very ill, the doctors at the time told me it was all in my head, and that I was very healthy.
So, when I filled out my form to apply for the insurance, I put what they told me, I was very healthy, and according to the FDA, drug companies, and doctors, silicone does not cause human illness.
They had no fight against me. I got the coverage !
You are 5 years free of major illness, or surgery. Once again, the FDA, drug companies, and doctors state that all the studies done "prove" that silicone is safe and cause no human illness. This should make it possible for you to get insurance easily. If you have a problem, I would get media attention, Attorney General, and who ever else to back you.
If the govt and doctors say they are safe, then insurance companies should not be able to deny you coverage ! ! Especially since it has been 5 years.
Or you could just leave the question blank where it asks about silicone.
There may be insurance law loopholes you can use, here is a place you can ask a Librarian (Library of Congress) . Here is a great media page with email addresses of all kinds if you want to speak out on this issue:
Write an E-Mail Message to Congress, the President and the Media!
Best Wishes in your journey. I hope this is of help to you.
I just dont think ins companies should be able to deny people insurance because they have had silicone implants when they say they are safe and inert ! ! ! and cause no human illness ! ! !
If you decide to fight for your rights, let me know, I will join in........and get others to do the same.
Sincerely ~
DG

Hi Myrl... tell her to try www.ehealthinsurance.com
I personally have had luck getting coverage thru them. Both in CT and now in WY.
In CT it was thru Anthem and here in WY it is thru Assurant. Their rates are far less then trying thru as an individual for the same exact policy.

Myrl,
She might try the AARP insurance. Carolyn Wolf said AARP insurance accepted her. I just joined AARP and hope to get the insurance papers soon. Some states have an insurance pool. I couldn't afford the $1200+/month premium. Blue Cross paid for all my surgeries, yet when Carrol went off his Cobra and onto Medicare, they refused to cover me for an individual policy.
This lady and I are in the same boat. We are too young for Medicare and unless we are determined to be disabled by SS, any kind of medical coverage is in the distant future. I'll be 60 in another month and the thought of being without medical coverage for another 6 years is frightening.
I am still collecting info on the non-insurability for silicone implanted women. If this lady could send you the applications that show the silicone question, could you fax them to me.

Hi Myrl,
JG could try Humana for insurance. That or one of the ones that Teachers use. My son has the teachers one and I will have Humana after my husband's runs out in August. I wish JG luck. I have never had any insurance ask me for information regarding silicone implants. Right now I have BC/BS as well as my Medicare.

She needs to find a group insurance that doesn't require a physical.
Check AARP, Costco & other possibilities.
It will be expensive though--I pay $2350/month for the 2 of us
