What You Need to Know About DHEA
DHEA is a hormone that's produced in the body. Our natural DHEA levels typically peak in our 20s and decline with age, which is why there has been considerable interest in DHEA's role in the aging process and whether taking DHEA supplements can slow or reverse some of the signs of aging.

Five Days of Meditation Eases Stress, Improves Attention
Many people feel that meditation takes years of practice to truly reap the benefits. But a recent study published in the October 8, 2007 issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has found that less than one week of daily meditation can significantly improve attention and mood. The 40 undergraduates in the study participated in integrative meditation sessions or relaxation training for 20 minutes each day for 5 days. Those doing the mediation showed greater improvement in attention and overall mood, and less anxiety, depression, anger and fatigue compared with those who did the general relaxation training.

Herbs More Helpful for Menstrual Cramps Than Drugs
A review of 39 previous studies on Chinese herbs and menstrual pain has found that Chinese herbs were more effective in relieving menstrual cramps than non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), oral contraceptives, acupuncture, or hot water bottles.

Just how the herbs might help isn't exactly understood. According to traditional Chinese medicine, these herbs can regulate the flow of energy (called "qi") and blood, warm the body, and improve the flow of energy through the liver and kidney. In scientific terms, the researchers said that the herbs could affect hormone levels and blood circulation.
