Amgen CEO Says '07 Profits Beat Forecast

SAN FRANCISCO -

Biotech company Amgen Inc. said Tuesday that it expects its 2007 profits were better than it forecast after its stock price fell in response to concerns about the safety of the company's anemia drugs.

Amgen, (the world's largest biotech company, now expects its 2007 earnings per share to exceed the $4.13 to $4.23 it predicted in October and fall between the $4.30 and $4.50 it predicted last January, Amgen chief executive Kevin Sharer said in a presentation at this year's JP Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco.

Sharer said earnings per share will likely be close to the low end of the $4.30 to $4.50 range, excluding certain expenses, Sharer said.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial forecast, on average, an annual profit of $4.24 per share.

Amgen shares jumped $1.95, or 4.3 percent, to $47.34 in midday trading. The stock has fallen from its 52-week high of $76.95, reached last January.

The company's stock price fell as safety questions raised by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration about drugs intended to treat anemia by stimulating production of red blood cells, as Amgen's Aranesp and Epogen do, cut into sales. The drugs are used to treat the blood disorder when it is caused by kidney-failure or chemotherapy.

In August, Amgen said it would cut between 12 percent and 14 percent of its work force because of the downturn.

The FDA issued a "black box" warning, its most serious, on erythropoiesis-stimulating agents, include Aranesp and Epogen, after research suggested high doses increased patients' risk of tumors and death.

Sharer also said Amgen is on track to deliver cost savings in 2008 as a result of the restructuring and expects research and development costs to decline slightly as a percentage of sales. 3M/McGhan/Inamed/Allergan, can now poison more un informed women, with there toxic faulty platinum and not studied gummy bear implants than before; with the help of The FDA & greedy

lying PS's- who testified these death traps were safe for women in a lame

Duck session none of us could attend. Was this planned by the FDA?

You bet it was-and numerous other's; whom stood to gain monetarily. Regardless what the out come is to women, and children's long term health; or The Dow Settlement Plan payments owed still. Dow, is trying to screw

the women, men, children, and those who've had loved ones pass away from

these toxic bags of numerous banned chemicals that aren't safe to be used on any human.

When all Inamed/Allergan, was concerned about was there bank accounts, instead of the Long term health of; women and children. Whom, were never told the real truth or side effects associated with these toxic bags of chemicals invented by; Dow Chemical & Dow Corning first! Don't kid yourselves, the profits are from, Selling breast implants to plastic surgeons!

All of us, should be allowed to sue; Dow Chemical and Corning again.

Please continue to write your, congresspersons, we've all suffered a grave

un justices from judges, the judicial system and the cac committee. IMHO

Who's let Dow, dictate the lousy terms of; The Dow Settlement Plan. This

isn't what any of us, signed yes to; nor does it resemble in any terms the

money we were promised! I'm fed up with the OO's & loops that are being

demanded. We, must meet now to get a lousy measly sum far lower than;

The Dow Settlement Plan offered in the original agreement. Not a single

person, would have voted yes to this crapola & un meetable medical terminology Demanded by Dow and has the cac committees blessings! Think how much money each member of, the cac committee has

already been paid, more than any ill woman, man or child will ever be compensated!! Does this seem fair to you? Some of us, could have served

on the cac committee; an in my opinion done far better for the persons harmed! IMHO.
