Let Patients Have Legal Access to Effective Medicine

Dear Gigi,

If there were a treatment available that would help relieve the suffering of a seriously ill friend or family member, would you support it?

Seriously ill patients and their caregivers risk going to prison for treating symptoms effectively with medical marijuana -- even in states that have passed medical marijuana laws.
Urge your Representative to protect medical marijuana patients and their caregivers "

Medical marijuana has been used therapeutically to control pain, alleviate nausea and vomiting in cancer patients due to chemotherapy, treat wasting due to HIV/AIDS, combat muscle spasms associated with multiple sclerosis and more.

Currently, 12 states have passed medical marijuana laws that work to protect these seriously ill patients and their caregivers from criminal charges associated with their medicine. But federal DEA agents continue to conduct raids on patients and caregivers who adhere to their state's laws.

Seriously ill patients have the right to effective therapies. To deny patients access to such a therapy is to deny them dignity and respect as persons. Please join me in telling Congress to give health care patients access to the medicine they need "
