It's Not About the Hair
It's Not About the Hair
by Debra Jarvis
Lance Armstrong wrote that "It's Not About the Bike" and in her memoir about surviving breast cancer, Debra Jarvis makes it clear that "It's Not About the Hair." As a hospital oncology chaplain, Ms. Jarvis visited patients with all kinds and stages of cancer, taking the full range of treatments. Having cancer isn't really about the hair loss, it's about the possibility losing your life. Ms. Jarvis isn't afraid to talk about death, sex, dogs, architecture, or hair - and she does it all with a great sense of humor. She tells us her story with love and laughter.

Discuss Spiritualilty and Breast Cancer in the Forum
Thanks for your many comments about last week's feature, Saint Agatha - Patron Saint of Breast Cancer. I learned a lot from all of you, including the names of other saints which are more closely connected with breast cancer. St. Aldegundis, for one - she died of breast cancer in 684 A.D. Many people find help and support in their spiritual community while they are going through treatment for breast cancer. What's your experience? Talk about it in the Breast Cancer Forum.
