When It's Not Cancer: Pseudolumps
Most benign (non-cancerous) breast lumps are cysts or fibroadenomas. But what if you have an unexplained breast lump? It could be due to scar tissue, radiation, compressed tissue, or old silicone. These kinds of lumps are sometimes called pseudolumps. Learn more about breast pseudolumps.

Breast Cysts
Cysts are benign fluid-filled masses that can appear in your breast tissue. They can appear alone or in groups, and are very commonly detected by mammography. Cysts are not usually associated with breast cancer. A breast ultrasound can reveal the difference between a cyst and other breast masses.

Benign Nipple Discharge
Benign nipple discharge can be caused by birth control pills, or by other common medications, such as sedatives. This nipple discharge may be milky in appearance. It can also be due to mastitis, intraductal papillomas, or mammary duct ectasia.
