Samantha was my favorite wig during chemo. She always looked perfect, was easy to shampoo and style, and once she almost fooled a cosmetic expert! But a year after my chemo was complete, I felt I could part with "Sam", so I recycled her! Here's what you can do with your wigs and hairpieces after you complete treatment for breast cancer:

The DIEP flap reconstruction is named after the Deep Inferior Epigastric artery, which supplies blood to the Perforator vessel or vessels which are the main blood supply to the tissue that will be used to reconstruct the breast. Unlike a TRAM flap procedure, no muscle is moved. To learn more about the DIEP procedure, I asked some questions of Dr. Gabriel Kind, a plastic surgeon who has been performing this procedure since 1998.
